Bhubaneswar: In an inspiring story of determination and perseverance, Sonali, a girl from a remote village in Nayagarh district, has successfully cleared the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2025, securing 527 marks out of 720.
She is poised to become the first doctor from her village — a milestone that
marks both personal and social achievement.
Sonali’s father is a daily wage labourer and
despite facing financial hardships, the family supported her academic journey
unconditionally.
“Since childhood, I had dreamed of becoming a
doctor,” she said. “Several of my family members died due to lack of proper
medical treatment. Many people in my village also continue to suffer due to the
unavailability of timely healthcare. That pain drove me to pursue this goal.”
After completing her Plus 2, Sonali initially
took admission in a general degree course, uncertain about her future. However,
her desire to serve her community reignited her passion for medicine, prompting
her to prepare seriously for NEET. She dedicated 7 to 8 hours daily for her
studies.
“My parents never questioned my choices. They
always supported me, no matter what I wanted to study,” she said.
Sonali also revealed that she used her mobile
phone solely for educational purposes. “I do not have any social media
accounts. I used YouTube to access study materials and clear my doubts,” she
added.
Her journey is a testament to how determination, hard work, and family support can help overcome even the toughest odds. Sonali’s success has brought pride to her village and hope to many other aspiring students from underprivileged backgrounds.
