The raids were launched following allegations
that Majhi had amassed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Acting on search warrants issued by the Special Judge of Vigilance in Bolangir,
multiple teams led by five Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), eight
Inspectors, two ASIs, and other staff fanned out across Bolangir, Sambalpur,
and Jharsuguda districts.
According to an official press release, the six
locations searched include:
- A double-storeyed residential building at Unit-16 (Sarla), Sambalpur Town.
- A second double-storeyed house at Gandaghora Mouza in Brajrajnagar Unit-II, Jharsuguda district.
- A market complex located at Gandaghora, Nuadihi, Brajrajnagar Unit-II, Jharsuguda.
- Two housing board quarters at Lahandabud, Jharsuguda.
- The engineer’s office chamber in the R&B Division office at Kantabanji, Bolangir district.
- A government-allotted quarter at Titlagarh, Bolangir district.
During the search at Majhi’s Sambalpur
residence, Vigilance officials discovered approximately Rs 6 lakh in cash
concealed in a secret chamber under his bed. Visuals of the recovery were
captured during the operation and are expected to form part of the
investigation documentation.
Officials stated that the searches were still
underway, with inventories of documents, movable and immovable properties being
compiled for further analysis. The operation is part of Odisha Vigilance’s
intensified crackdown on public servants suspected of illicit wealth
accumulation.
Further updates are awaited as the investigation progresses.
