Bhubaneswar: In a prompt display of administrative responsiveness, a visually-impaired man from Jajpur district received his long-pending disability certificate after Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling intervened upon learning of his plight through media reports.
Prafulla Das, a resident of Jajpur and visually
impaired by condition, had reportedly made multiple unsuccessful attempts to
obtain a disability certificate. Despite repeated efforts, his application
remained pending, leaving him without access to various government benefits
entitled to persons with disabilities.
The issue came to public attention following
media coverage, after which local MLA Akash Das Nayak apprised Minister Dr.
Mahaling of the matter. Responding swiftly, Dr. Mahaling reviewed the case and
directed the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) of Jajpur to assess the
situation and issue the certificate without delay.
Acting on the minister's directive, officials
from the district administration visited Prafulla Das’s home on Tuesday and
formally handed over the Divyang certificate.
“The state government is committed to the welfare of persons with disabilities and will continue working towards the inclusive development of all sections of society,” said Dr. Mahaling.
The timely intervention highlights the
government’s intent to bridge administrative gaps and ensure rightful
entitlements reach the most deserving citizens without delay.
