Bhubaneswar: Senior IAS officer Anu Garg on Thursday assumed charge as the Chief Secretary of Odisha, making history as the first woman to hold the state’s top bureaucratic post.
On her first day in office, Garg convened a meeting of all
departmental secretaries and emphasised her commitment to efficient governance.
“Today is my first day of assuming charge. We are committed
to doing as much work as we can. I have just interacted with the Health
Secretary, and I will be reviewing the expenditure of all departments,” she
said.
Known for her diligence and proactive approach, she is expected
to focus on streamlining departmental functioning and ensuring transparency in
governance.
With a career spanning several key administrative positions,
Garg brings extensive experience in public administration.
